Bruce A.
Bracken, Ph.D., is a school psychologist and Professor of Educational
Foundations at The College
of William &
Mary. Dr. Bracken obtained a bachelor’s degree at The College of
Charleston (1975), and master’s (1977) and doctorate (1979) at the University of Georgia. In addition to conducting
research in psychoeducational assessment, Dr. Bracken is co-principal
investigator on two five-year Jacob Javits Department of Education grants.
He has authored or co-authored several tests, including the Universal Nonverbal Intelligence Test, Bracken
Basic Concept Scale – Third Edition: Receptive, Bracken Basic Concept
Scale - Expressive, Bracken
School Readiness Assessment – Second Edition, Multidimensional Self
Concept Scale, Clinical
Assessment of Interpersonal Relations, Clinical Assessment of Behavior, Clinical Assessment of Depression, and
the Clinical Assessment of Attention
Deficit – Adults and Children. He co-founded and is co-consulting
editor of the Journal of
Psychoeducational Assessment, and sits on several national and
international editorial boards in psychology and education. He co-edited
the Psychoeducational Assessment of
Preschool Children-Fourth Edition, edited The Handbook of Self-Concept, and he
authored the Bracken Concept
Development Program and co-authored the Essentials of Nonverbal Assessment.
Dr. Bracken Chaired the APA Committee
on Psychological Testing and Assessment, served on panels for
the National Academies of Science and
the National Institute for Literacy, and currently is
Past-President of the International
Test Commission. Dr. Bracken is a Diplomate in the American Board of Psychological Assessment,
a Fellow in two divisions (16 and 53) of the American Psychological Association, and was inducted
into the Society for the Study of
School Psychology. Dr. Bracken is married (Mary Jo) and has one
son (Bruce) who graciously developed this website for his father.
